WEST KENSINGTON District line
Not a very rewarding area on the whole. Mainly blocks of flats ranging from social housing to the ‘mansion’ type in varying degrees of flamboyance. If you turn left out of the Tube station and walk down North End Road you will have a good view of the Olympia Exhibition Halls 1930 façade in all its brutal simplicity.
On the way there is a white Ebeneezer nonconformist chapel.
That’s about it really. Except to say that West Ken. station has a surprisingly rural air considering it is in such urban surroundings.
West Kensington is just one walk from the many to be found at London Tube Rambles. There are architectural gems, beautiful country views, historic places and whacky buildings to be found, even in the most unpromising areas covered by the Greater London Underground stations. Usually the places listed are within a mile of the Tube - often only five minutes walk away.
