Alperton Grand Junction canal 2½/4 miles
Balham  a potter round the lakes at Wandsworth Common, 10 mins from station
Belsize Park A string of large ponds/lakes at Parliament Hill Fields. These famous ponds are used for a variety of purposes - boating,fishing, swimming (one is even traditionally for dogs).  2 miles
Boston Manor Grand Union Canal with Brunel’s interesting ‘Three Bridges’. 5 miles
Bromley-by-Bow Bow waterways, tidal mills, 
 'cathedral of sewage’. 3 miles. AW
Camden Town
Regents Canal, markets. 3 miles AW
Croxley
Grand Union Canal and old watercress beds

Debden River Roding walk 3 miles
Deptford Bridge (DLR) River Thames, Deptford Creek plus excellent modern architecture. 3 miles AW
East Putney The Thames following some of the Boat Race course. 5 miles
Fairlop Fairlop waters - large sailing lakes with pleasant countryside surroundings. 2½ miles
Greenwich (Cutty Sark DLR) A historic walk by the old Royal Naval College. Royal Naval College. Allow a whole day. 2½ miles AW
Gunnersbury Interesting walk along the Thames. 2 miles AW
Hammersmith The Thames again, following some of the Boat Race course – many historic buildings along the way.  3 miles AW
Isle of Dogs (four routes, the longest 3 miles) AW
Kew Gardens Wander past the Royal Botanic 
Gardens along the Thames for some beautiful views.
Richmond Riverside town trail – a full days outing. Strongly recommended. 3½ miles AW

Rickmansworth Rickmansworth Lakes and the River Colne – a long and relaxing wander. 5 miles
Snaresbrook Hollow Pond, Epping Forest 1½ miles, plus pottering.
Watford Cassiobury Park. Peaceful walk by River Gade and wetlands to explore plus Canal walk. Distances up to you! 10 mins from station
Warwick Avenue* Canal walk to Camden Lock, passing London Zoo. A really great walk, 3 miles AW
West Finchley Dollis Valley Greenwalk. 4 miles

*Sections of towpaths are sometimes closed for repairs (especially the along the Regent Canal) so it may be wise to check on the website of the Canal River Trust. Usually it is only a matter of making a short detour away from the water.
